Cain Velasquez insists Daniel Cormier will ‘get his time’ in WWE.

Cormier, a former UFC champion, would be welcomed with open arms into professional wrestling given his success in mixed martial arts.

And Velasquez, who retired from MMA and signed a multi-year deal with WWE earlier this month, will get his chance to face Lesnar in the squared circle at Crown Jewel on Thursday where Tyson Fury is making his wrestling debut.

The Mexican can see Cormier following in his footsteps by swapping MMA for WWE.

He told the Notsam Wrestling podcast: “He’ll get his time, he’ll get his time.

“He’s just a big fan and he loves this sport. I see him getting into it if he chooses and you know, later on down the road when he’s done with fighting.

“But yeah, he’s a big fan.

“Him and my wife kind of like put that little thought in my head of starting to do this and from then on it’s like ‘hell yeah this is what I want to do.’”

Cormier, 40, wrestled in high school and college before going on to represent the USA between 2003 and 2008.

He finished fourth at the 2004 Games in Athens and earned a bronze at the 2007 World Championship in the freestyle event. He was then set to captain the USA wrestling team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, but withdrew due to kidney failure.

Triple H has teased a match-up between Cormier and Lesnar in the past.

At the ESPY Awards in June, Cormier, who was interviewed next to The Game, said: “I was hoping to fight Brock Lesnar [in UFC], but he didn’t.

“These guys took him from me. Maybe I’ll follow him over there.”

And Triple H replied: “It’s not too late.”
