McGregor apologised to the victim, Desmond Keogh, as CCTV footage of the incident was played to the court.

The court was told that McGregor paid Mr Keogh compensation, but the amount was not disclosed.

In a letter, Mr Keogh, who did not want to give a victim impact statement, said he accepted McGregor’s apology.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion admitted what he did was ‘very wrong’.

He added: “I assure you nothing of this nature will happen again.”

McGregor is set to make his UFC return at the T-Mobile Arena on January 18.

The Irishman has not fought in the octagon since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

While an opponent is yet to be confirmed, UFC president Dana White revealed he is ‘looking’ to book McGregor against Donald Cerrone.

On Wednesday, he told TMZ Sports: “We have nothing done. Nothing is even close to being done, so I hate to even talk about this stuff and say it because it might not happen.

“It might happen, but we’re looking at Cowboy (Cerrone).

“No.3 vs No.5, January 18 at the T-Mobile [Arena] in Las Vegas.”
