Michael Bisping punches Luke Rockhold on his way to title glory

Former UFC world champion Michael Bisping has announced his retirement.

The 39-year-old fighter hadn’t been involved in a bout since a first-round knockout defeat to Kevin Gastelum last November.

He became the first British champion in the UFC when he beat Luke Rockhold in June 2016, but has now quit the sport after a 14-year mixed martial arts career.

Speaking on his Believe You Me Podcast, he said: “So obviously I’ve teased this for a long time now, I might fight again, I might not. And unfortunately it’s not a fight that I’m announcing.

“I am going to announce my official retirement from mixed martial arts.”

Bisping ends his career with a record of 30 wins and nine defeats in a 39-fight career.
