Man Utd fans protest outside Woodward’s home

Manchester United fans have reportedly been protesting outside the home of club executive vice chairman Ed Woodward.

Around 20 fans congregated outside of Woodward’s home in Cheshire, and appeared to throw flares into his front garden. The executive and his family are believed to have been away at the time of the incident.

A video was posted to social media showing a flare being thrown, along with the caption of ‘Woodward’s gonna die’. That phrase references a chant about Woodward being chopped up which has been sung by fans at recent United games.

There is also another chant from fans that celebrates the idea of building a bonfire, which would then see Woodward and the owners of United, the Glazer family, being put on top and burned.

The growing protests at the club come at a time when United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are struggling to reel in Chelsea in fourth place, the last position that guarantees Champions League football for the rest of the season.

Woodward has become a target for fans’ frustrations as he seeks to take credit for all transfers that go through while failing to account for himself when the overall strategy is one marked by incompetence and often dawdling incompetence.

There has been some potentially good news for both Woodward and United fans as it appeared that a deal has been agreed between the club and Sporting Lisbon to transfer the 25-year-old playmaker Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford before the end of the January transfer window.

Any deal will not be agreed in time for him to play Wednesday night’s game against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, where United trail 3-1 from the first leg. There is a chance that he will be ready to play in the Premier League game against Wolves on Saturday evening, when another protest is planned that would see fans depart the stadium in the 58th or 68th minute.
