Miami Heat trade for Andre Iguodala, who will sign extension

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that the Miami Heat have agreed to trade for Andre Iguodala and signed him to a two-year, $30 million extension.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Iguodala’s two-year extension has a team option for the second season. That team option is crucial, as it allows the Heat to maintain cap flexibility for the 2021 summer.

Wojnarowski said that Justise Winslow, who has played in just 11 games this year, will go to Memphis as part of the trade.

Iguodala, a three-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, should help Miami’s perimeter defense. Although he’s 36 years old, he’ll still provide some veteran leadership on a team with lots of young players.

Earlier Wednesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that Miami was looking to trade for both Iguodala and Danilo Gallinari.
