Prince Harry to deliver Queen’s message to England squad ahead of Rugby World Cup final against South Africa

Prince Harry has flown out to Japan to deliver the Queen’s message for England’s rugby team ahead of the World Cup final on Saturday.

They have had a hugely impressive tournament, blowing away all in their path to reach the showpiece, with their nail-biting semi-final victory over New Zealand arguably the finest in their history.

Now, just South Africa stand between England and glory, with one last morale boost set to arrive before kick-off.

The Queen said: “Your performances during the tournament have delighted supporters, and inspired many people throughout the country.

“I send my congratulations to the England team, management and support staff on reaching the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final, together with my very best wishes for a memorable and successful match.”

It is understood that Prince Harry, the Queen’s grandson, will visit the dressing room pre-match to deliver this message in person.

The Duke of Sussex is patron of the Rugby Football Union and will join the crowd at the Yokohama Stadium in support of England.

He has also written his own good luck card for the squad including a picture of his baby son Archie in an England shirt.
