England’s Matt Prior on his way to a century against Pakistan

A superb century from Matt Prior and three early wickets in Pakistan’s second innings has put England on course for victory in the npower First Test at Trent Bridge.

Before Prior came to the crease, England were struggling on 72-5 but a confident batting performance saw the Sussex man make 102 not out as England declared on 262-9, setting Pakistan a world record target of 435 to win.

England’s bowlers started where Prior had left off with two early wickets for Stuart Broad and another for James Anderson as Pakistan collapsed to 15-3 at the end of day three to leave the hosts in control.

In another dominant day for England, things could have been very different had it not been for Prior’s batting after some excellent Pakistan bowling blew away their top order.
